PRODUCT DESIGN — 2025
AquaClear Hub
AquaClear Hub is a large scale water filtration system. It is designed to be in the center of a village or community that lacks reliable access to clean water. Users can detach and refill the main body with water from their surroundings using 9 modular water containers, which can then be reinserted into the main body for water filtration. Furthermore, a bench is provided for seating or can serve as an elevation aid for shorter individuals. Above the water faucet, a touch screen is seamlessly integrated, allowing users to control the positioning of overhead shade wings, monitor filter status, and dispense filtered water.

(THE ISSUE)
Worldwide, over 2 billion people lack reliable access to clean drinking water. On average, women and girls in sub-Saharan Africa walk 3.7 miles every day to transport water to their families and villages. Young girls in Ethiopia walk 8 hours to fetch minimal amounts of dirty water for their families, sacrificing the opportunity to get educated and live a proper life.
(THE SOLUTION)
My vision is to have a water sanitation hub where a community is able to efficiently purify water that is safe for consumption and hygienic use. It is designed to be in the center of a village or community that lacks reliable access to clean water.

(DESIGN FUNCTIONS)
A bench is provided for seating or can serve as an elevation aid for shorter individuals. Above the water faucet, a touch screen is seamlessly integrated, allowing users to control the positioning of overhead shade wings, monitor filter status, and dispense filtered water.

The AquaClear Hub Wings can be adjusted in any direction to maximize sunlight exposure for efficient solar charging. They can also be repositioned to provide or move shade as needed. Powered entirely by solar energy, the AquaClear Hub operates independently, requiring no additional energy source.

Users can detach the modular water bottles and carry them using a convenient sling design. They can take the bottles to a water source, fill them up, and return them to the station for filtration. After filtration, users can interact with the screen to dispense water through the faucet.
